The Guassa plateau in the central highlands of Ethiopia covers an area of about 110 square kilometers , making it one of the largest intact Afro-alpine ecosystems in Africa. Here, a herd of gelada monkeys cross the road that bisects the plateau on their late afternoon trek to the cliffs where they will spend the night.
