Honey Island swamp in Louisiana in November 2014. Frustrated by what he describes as the media’s focus on “the most extreme thing,” the New Orleans resident and photographer @frankrelle has been documenting the state’s recovery from both Hurricane #Katrina in 2005 and the BP oil spill in 2010. He started with roads that lead to the Gulf of Mexico. When he ran out of road, he got his hands on a flat boat, which he rigged with lights, a generator and enough aluminum piping to build tripods that he could stick into the water to hold his camera steady.
