Heavy seasonal rains leave this region lush and fertile but take a devastating toll on its few dirt roads. Driving in Walikale during the rain season is nearly impossible as water-filled craters more than 5-feet-deep are common. Congo's capital city of #Kinshasa--from which the country is administered--is located thousands of kilometers to the southwest.
