Set on a rise at the edge of Ballynahinch lake in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, this small stone structure provides shelter for sport fishermen on the lake caught up in inclement weather. To get a better sense of the bedrock that rises from the lake, I took this shot lying on the ground, and unbeknownst to me, the keys to my rental car fell out of my jacket pocket while I was rolling around in the dirt. It was an hour before I realized I'd lost them, and another hour retracing my steps by going through the pictures on my camera's LCD screen and matching them to the shape of the rocks by the lake. Were it not for the LCD's instant recall of all the photos I'd taken in that location it would have been a long cold slog back to Clifden and couple hundred euro for a new key. Say what you will about "chimping" and the lost halcyon days of having to wait for your film to get developed, but for me the LCD screen on the back of a digital camera is the greatest invention since the answering machine. #connemara #thestonesofconnemara #ballynahinch @natgeocreative @chrisbickford
