Yesterday, I attended President Dr Tony Tan’s Annual Diplomatic Reception for foreign Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Honorary Consuls-General. In 1965, we only had 24 foreign missions in Singapore. Now some 70 foreign missions are resident here, and 80 more are accredited to us though not based here.

We are friends with many countries. We need to understand them, and they us. Their ambassadors help us do this, and personally reflect the diversity and richness of human societies around the world. – LHL (MCI Photo by Chwee)
