Now hoping it arrives in Yerevan in a few hours. #thekit #onassignment #luggage @natgeocreative @thephotosociety

The Other Kit on @ナショナルジオグラフィック assignments — #underwear & #socks

We often get caught up in what cameras we use, the lenses, video/audio kits, etc — the nuts and bolts — forgetting the often overlooked supporting kit needed on National Geographic assignments:

Clothing

Here is what I'm carrying while on Part V of the National Geographic @outofedenwalk story — this is the same clothing kit used on more than 14 stories I've done for the magazine over the last 11 years:

5 long sleeve shirts — lightweight material, able to wear in tropical climates to avoid (hopefully) issues like Malaria yet warm for most cooler climates, elegant enough (when ironed) for visiting heads of state

3 long pairs of pants — same lightweight martial and purpose as above

1 pair of blue jeans — just because

7 pairs of socks — it's my favorite number

1 sarong (lungi) — a must have

10 pairs of underwear — pants can be used for a few days, a shirt maybe two if not in hot climates, however in a pinch this amount of underwear gives me up to ten days before needing to do laundry (read my story on lack of water to bath during part I of the Out of Eden Walk — www.stanmeyer.com/blog)

Sleep clothing — t-shirt and cotton shorts

3 t-shirts — for around hotel, as an undershirt if cold, etc (Personal items such a tooth brush, a small bar of soap and a hair brush are kept in my carry on backpack)

This kit packed yesterday will easily handle all my needs for the next two months while on this latest National Geographic assignment, fitting all in hand-carry luggage — I check all clothing in the body of the plane in order to always hand-carry the camera kit.

Now hoping it arrives in Yerevan in a few hours.
