Happy birthday to Futurist Gino #Severini, born this day in 1883. To Severini, dance was an ideal subject through which to study movement. Unlike other first-generation Futurists, Severini lived in Paris and was greatly influenced by the city's cafes, cabarets and dance halls, which epitomized modernity to him. On view last year in our #ItalianFuturism exhibition "Blue Dancer" 1912 from the Guggenheim collection signals Severini's exposure to Cubism in Paris and the new integration of Cubist elements to Futurist artistic production.
