A wheelchair at the bottom of an elevator shaft inside Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, a massive Victorian building in New Jersey. Unless a last-minute stay is granted to a group that has filed a lawsuit to prevent it, demolition of the long-closed establishment — where Woody Guthrie spent five years beginning in 1956 — will begin on Monday. The photographer @pwbuehler visited the #abandoned site often over a number of years beginning in 2001. He was looking for “traces of the people there, and almost a bigger feeling than just the desolation,” he said. “There’s some life still there, somehow, through those objects.”
