Ever noticed the two large-scale sculptures flanking the Museum’s entrance on Eastern Parkway? These two allegorical figures by #DanielChesterFrench—Manhattan (R) & Brooklyn (L)—were removed from the Manhattan Bridge during reconstruction in 1964 and were relocated to the entrance of the Brooklyn Museum. The compositions of each statue were meant to portray the distinguishing characteristics of both boroughs in 1915 (more on this at the link above).
