Nubia, a lionfish researcher based at the Oceanic Society on Blackbird Caye regularly spearfishes for the invasive species so she can study their impacts on the local underwater ecosystem. Lionfish are taking over the Caribbean waters and people are trying creative tactics to reduce their numbers. Sharks are being taught to eat them as part of their natural diet and many restaurants are starting to make them a regular part of their menu.
