These women are sewing for their rights. Young activist Khalida Brohi founded the Sughar Empowerment Society, an embroidery fashion brand in Pakistan, as a way to fight the cultural tradition of honor killings. It gives women a way to earn money, as well as a place to talk about their struggles and build community. She says, “To create women leaders, there's only one thing you have to do: Just let them know that they have what it takes to be a leader.” To learn more about the Sughar Empowerment Society, head to go.ted.com/embroidery
