One of the most unique, special and elusive species I have ever had the pleasure of photographing is the Narwhal. Most people do not realize that they even exist. There really are unicorns out there! The tusk just happens to grow out of a 16 foot long whale that lives in the Arctic ocean. It doesn’t get any better than that. It took me ten years of trying different techniques to find these whales. Working with local Inuit guides and using my ultralight airplane with friend and fellow pilot, Brian Knutsen we were able to find hundreds of these whales living way offshore in the drifting pack ice.
