@mattiasklumofficial for @ナショナルジオグラフィック The Sunda flying lemur is a great climber, but is pretty useless on the ground. In fact, the Sunda flying lemur is not a really a lemur and can not fly. It glides as it leaps among trees. It is strictly arboreal and is active at dusk till dawn. Its unique gliding membrane connects from the neck, extending along all the limbs to the tips of the fingers, toes and nails. This amazing animal can glide over a distance of 100 m (328 feet) (with a loss of less than 10 meters (38,2 ft.) in elevation. It can maneuver in mid air while gliding, but strong wind and downpour can affect its ability to glide. Gliding occurs in open areas or high in the canopy, especially in dense tropical rainforest. Prefered food is young leaves, flowers, fruits and shoots. After mating in the canopy a 60-day gestation period follows, a single baby is born and is carried on the mother's abdomen held by a large skin membrane.
