Weavers in Khotan, Xinjiang, China. Uyghur women have been weaving rugs in Khotan since long before Marco Polo came through on the Silk Road headed from Venice to China. The scene seemed a bit ghostly to me, unconnected to anything I knew. My mind boggled at the millions of knots these women would tie in their lifetimes. They shared openly and laughed at my antics.
