Photo by @mattiasklumofficial This arboreal tree viper (Atheris sp.) feeds on frogs, birds and rodents. Like all other "relatives" it's a front-fanged or hinged fanged snake. This means
that the relatively long mobile fangs can swing forward when the snake strikes. If (we) humans get bitten we usually suffer severe swelling, headaches, nausea and necrosis. A number of beautiful but feared snakes are on clinical trials for new effective drugs.
