179 years ago today: Author Mark Twain is born. He was a fan of the "new fangled writing machine" known as a typewriter.
This machine is Remington's first model. You could only type in all caps. The next model, in 1878, included lower case letters. From the beginning, the keyboard was arranged in the QWERTY pattern. The designers adopted the layout to prevent the mechanical type bars, arranged in a circle inside the machine, from clashing in operation. #literature #MarkTwain #typewriters
