These sea bears are specialized for their polar environment in a number of ways; from their thick coats and body shape to retain heat, their large paws for swimming, a white coat for camouflage, to their ability to hunt seals from the sea ice. As temperatures rise, the sea ice these bears depend upon recedes each year and climate change charges on unbridled. We are realizing the urgency to make sure scenes like this don’t become history. No species can live without a healthy habitat.
