@Robert Clark This is the wing fan of the Superb Starling (Lamprotornis superbus) found primarily in Eastern Africa. The green coloration of this wing possesses prominent use of structural color, allowing only green light to escape the prism formed by the interlacing 'hairs' known as 'barbules' between the vanes of each feather. This means that the color of the wing is not inherently green, but fact brownish, and it's only the application of light source that reflects off of them that gives the feathers their iridescent hue.

This type of coloration is notable in that under UV light, the structural color glows a pale purple. Evolutionary biologists are unsure of the reason or if birds can even see UV light, but phenomenon exists nonetheless.
