Rugged constitutions and an ability to survive on just about anything make sheep the #1 agricultural/pastoral industry in a region dominated by acidic soil that yields little more than tufts of sedge and heather and the occasional blackthorn tree. Unfortunately the over-grazing of sheep compromises fragile ecosystems like this one with runoff and erosion and threatens the health of the surrounding lakes and rivers.
