Tennis trophy, racquet, and ophthalmology loupe used by Renee Richards, MD, 1950s-2010. Dr. Richards won All-Navy tennis tournaments and the New York State Men's competition in the early 1960s. She transitioned from male to female in the 1970s and advanced transgender rights by suing and winning her case to be able to play in the U.S. Women's Open without being required to take a DNA test.
