This swimmer is top shelf in letting the manatee pet him. A civil-libertarian group is petitioning to have manatees down-listed from their endangered status so they can drive their boats faster. This is especially dangerous during the cold winter months when the manatees seek refuge in the springs to avoid hypothermia. Since 2010 over 1700 manatees have died due to cold shock. Should we allow boat traffic to achieve high speeds in these shallow waters where the manatees come to rest and seek shelter.
