In North America the range of the smalltooth sawfish has diminished by 90 percent, because they prefer the nearshore and estuarine zones, which are often the first to be drained and bulldozed for coastal development. The scientists that have been so critical in helping me take
photographs of these elusive fish have just published the seminal
