This morning, Zoo veterinarian Nancy Boedeker (L) and veterinary technician Peter Flowers (R) examined a #snowyowl that was hit by a bus. The owl was brought to the @スミソニアン国立動物園 by D.C. Metropolitan Police for care after the incident. There were no obvious physical injuries, but vets found blood in its mouth which is consistent with a suspected head trauma. The bird was treated with pain and anti-inflammatory medication and kept in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere until it was picked up by City Wildlife for rehabilitation and further treatment, which is standard protocol for wild animals that become injured.
