Enduring Rifts - Santiago.
Chile. Four decades after the military overthrew Chile's democratically elected government, the past remains a vital force in the country. My brother and fellow documentarian Jeff Kelly Lowenstein and I have embarked on an amazing exploration of where the country is at 40 years after Salvador Allende was deposed. Ana Gonzalez saw her husband, two sons and her pregnant daughter in law were disappeared by Augusto Pinochet's government. A life long communist, at 87 she exudes a powerful thirst for justice and true equality. Gonzalez held forth at her house in a neighborhood in Santiago which was filled with images of everyone from Pablo Neruda to Che Guevara. She has fought tirelessly for social justice for more than six decades and is one of the most inspirational people I've ever met. @jonlowenstein #pulitzercenter @noorimages #survivor #pinochet #salvadorallende #communist #blackandwhite #nofilter @jeffklo #jeffkellylowenstein #face #power #smile #elder #elderly #desaparecido #politics #artist #art
