While in Norway, I went to a piano recital at the famous Norwegian composers house, Edvard Grieg. I rather enjoyed the recital, but this kid in front of me couldn't have been in a deeper pit of hell. He kept pleadingly looking up to the ceiling, which I took as him asking God to take him now and spare whatever further torture was in store for him. I couldn't help but sympathize...I seem to remember some tortuous events my parents made me sit through when I was a wee lad. In hindsight, tho, seems a bit dramatic...twas just a half hour recital.
