But what if your assignment is Basho, Japan's most famous poet whose haiku celebrated nature; the sun, the moon, wind, rain, trees, grass, waves, seashells. My assignment was to follow Basho's journey along the Oku no Hosomichi, the Narrow Road to the Far North, making poetic pics to illustrate his legendary travel journal of prose and poetry through 16th century Tohoku, the same area devastated by the earthquake and tsunami 2 years ago.
