Photo by @chamiltonjames In the sea off Shetland, UK a few hours ago. A young male otter investigates me whilst hunting a kelp bed. I spent two hours in the water with a bitch otter and her two grown up cubs. The cubs were inquisitive and checked me out a few times as did mum. Surprisingly they weren't that bothered by me and continued fishing close by. I covered eurasian otters for National Geographic for feb 2013 issue and really struggled on that shoot to get good images of them underwater in the sea. Today though the sun was out and the sea was clear so I got lucky. Swimming with otters is my favourite hobby and encounters with them underwater are for me unbeatable. Shetland today is warm and bathed in sunshine; a real treat.
