In northwest India, seven miles outside the city of Jaipur, the stunning Amer Fort overlooks Maota Lake from atop a forested hill. Visitors to the 400-year-old fort can ride elephants up a zigzagging path to reach the entrance. Inside, there are four main courtyards, one of which contains an elaborate room of mirrors called the Sheesh Mahal.
