Eurasian river otter inspects ( @chamiltonjames ) my underwater camera. This adult female otter lived on the river in my garden and became so used to my remote camera that she'd sit on it. I was shooting a story on river otters in the UK for the February issue of National Geographic Magazine. This picture was taken as part of an ongoing study I've been working on finding out whether otters can smell underwater. The shot was taken remotely from my kitchen - the camera was wired the fifty metre stretch to my house along with three infra red security cameras to help me see what was happening in the dark. Otters in England tend to only come out at night. #otter #thephotosociety
