Watching The Dust Bowl by Ken Burns on PBS tonight reminded me of this scene that I shot at the Oglala National Grasslands some years ago. Located in the panhandle of Nebraska it wasn't in the heart of the dust bowl, but most of the National Grasslands represent places where the dream of farming the Great Plains just went too far, places where we plowed up prairie that should have been left in grass.
