Hi everyone! @julietschreckinger back again with one more video showing how I use Micron pens to create my gallery show pieces! This is the largest piece I have ever created for a gallery show, and it took over two-hundred hours to draw. I am using both the 003 and 005 Micron pens throughout this piece; I will use the 003 for most of the details on the face and lighter areas of the characters, and then use the 005 for the darker and shadow areas.

I have found that before investing this much time into a single drawing, it is important to set myself up for the best outcome in the end. One of the ways that I protect my drawings during the creation process is to have a piece of scrap paper to lean my hand on while drawing. The oils from our hands can leave residue on the paper, and can cause the surface to be altered. Another great thing to do when your drawing is done is to spray it with fixative. This is especially true if you mix ink and graphite together, as I have done here by mixing Micron pens and my Sakura mechanical pencil. Covering the piece with a spray fixative at the end can insure that it is protected from smudging, and can shield it from harmful UV rays. If it is a work on paper, framing the piece is also a good way to ensure its longevity. Most importantly, I can feel good about my work lasting since I use archival Sakura materials! :)
