🧊 🚁 We LANDED ON A GLACIER! Wow. We were fortunate enough to go with @mtcookskiplanesandhelis - Andrew, our Mountain Pilot (actual job title), expertly took us up to the Tasman Glacier, New Zealand’s biggest one. Btw, I don’t think any civilian American can ride in a helicopter without “Fortunate Son” playing in their heads. We had a picnic and Pavlova (New Zealand’s claim to dessert fame) next to fluffy blue ice that looked like pavlova and were careful to leave nothing behind but heavy footprints. It was breathtaking and awe inspiring to be standing on something so powerful, yet so vulnerable because of global warming. Kiwis collectively seem to take a deep responsibility for the protection of their environment. They realize how precious the land they live off of is and they treat it with respect. I wish we could all be this way about our lands. Thank you for this incredible opportunity to… eat snacks and stare at this wonder of nature.

⭐️ I’m only writing this because I can feeel it coming. If you take umbrage with the fact that I took a helicopter to see a glacier while talking about environmental responsibility… get fucked. The endless performative sophistry peddled by powerless people, who think their clout will come from trying to get anyone they deem above them cancelled, is the most pathetic witch hunt. And it’s the reason I don’t share that much, because there is always some loser taking issue with anything they can’t control. It is possible to care about our planet and take action AND take a plane or use a plastic cup. Anyone who comments otherwise should Google where the cobalt in that iiPhone you use to dole out your tepid judgement comes from 🔥
