One thing that stood out to me with dog sports is the welfare of the dog comes first, when I was an athlete I’m not sure we even consider this for ourselves! Our team suffered a few injuries and set backs which ruled a couple of our teams out, we could still race just not place or have our times made official. It was a great chance to learn coping with the high energy and intensity being in the racing ring and always practicing close change overs and race starts. Success is more than just the medals and rosettes it’s turning up for the team and doing right by your dog. Funnily enough it’s only the humans that care about times and placings, the dogs just want to run and get their ball🎾😂 keep things simple and be more dog I’d say! So proud of Poppy and Mylo. Mylo racing in her first ever open competition, learning to get close changes and good starts. Managed a couple 0.00 starts! Along with -0.00 starts 😂 Poppy…..well since I found out I was pregnant she really struggled. Didn’t want to leave my side and run, felt she wasn’t enjoying flyball any more she’d rather stay by my side to protect me. We didn’t know how she would be at these championships so it was awesome seeing her enjoy herself and race the best she’s raced in a long time! She had a fab time and so did I!
