For #DiorCouture Autumn-Winter 2023-2024, @MariaGraziaChiuri returns to a favored source of inspiration - ancient Greece and Rome - and, in keeping with the collection's premise, looks at classical pleating and draping with fresh eyes. A crêpe evening ensemble is a precision combination of knotwork and sharp pleats while a white peplos gown sees its bodice shaped with tight smocking. The effect was explored in other ways, too, such as the gem-studded passementerie delineating a skirt, or the layering of a double-face wool and cashmere sleeveless coat over a georgette dress to create an astonishingly airy ensemble.
