The great actor Treat Williams passed away suddenly on Monday. He was a reliably remarkable presence in a number of films I enjoyed over the years, ‘Prince Of The City’, ‘Hair’, ‘Once Upon A Time In America’, ‘Smooth Talk’, ‘Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead’, not to mention many others that people will list in the comments.

What I’d love to post in his honour is this outstanding scene from Steven Spielberg’s ‘1941’ where Treat Williams is the funny, fiery centre of an incredible dance hall brawl at a USO show. It’s a real highlight of that movie and a set-piece that’s been a big influence on me over the years. Enjoy this, it’s a blast.

And RIP, Treat. You will be missed x
