Kintsugi is the Japanese art of restoring broken pottery. ‘Kin’ means gold and ‘tsugu’ means to join. In the spirit of wabi-sabi, artisan Kuroda Yukiko tries to bring out the beauty of the flaws. She uses the sap of the urushi lacquer tree to join broken pieces and fill in gaps, finishing with gold or silver.💛 She has repaired over 1,000 items, with some taking up to a year to complete.⏳
