Woven in (you guessed it) Japan from 100% cotton, the fabric weighs in at 3.5oz/yd and presents itself as one or the most breathable fabrics of the season. . Dungaree is, and always has been, a fabric predicated on functionality. With roots dating back to the early 1600’s, Dungaree has been used in countless working applications from boat sails to miners uniforms and everything between. These traditional dungaree fabrics were incredibly heavy-duty, and were notable for they hard-wearing longevity. . Fast forward to GV SS23, however, and dungaree looks a bit different. We sourced a very peculiar dungaree, one that’s far more breathable than its old school counterparts. Ours features a looser weave than normal, allowing for a lighter weight hand and improved airflow through the shirt. Check out the fourth photo to see what we mean. . With that said, a loose weave doesn’t necessarily sacrifice durability. This dungaree still uses a robust thread gauge with high tensile strength, ensuring a durable fabric overall. The threads also retain the classic characteristics of using contrasting warp and weft colors to give the fabric a subtle texture. . Ultimately, this dungaree is not all that different than its predecessors. It’s simply updated for comfort and breathability, both prerequisites for our spring/summer lineup.
