It felt very nostalgic and fun to be back in the same screen where, in 1996, I watched the last BFI Dario season (‘The Horror Fellni’), also with the maestro himself in attendance doing an ‘in conversation’ event. Back then I definitely watched ‘The Bird With The Crystal Plumage’, ‘The Cat O’ Nine Tails’, ‘Four Flies On Grey Velvet’, ‘Deep Red’, ‘Suspiria’, ‘Inferno’, ‘Tenebre’ on 35mm and I believe a preview of ‘The Stendhal Syndrome’ too. As well as seeing him talk eloquently about his work. I had not seen ‘Opera’ on the big screen and until last night I don’t believe I had ever seen the original Italian language cut.
