IN A NEW LIGHT. At the @austinproperhotel a seven-foot-wide brass ceiling fixture by Italian designer Massimiliano Locatelli doubles as a sculptural statement. Throughout the hotel, Austin-based suppliers and craftsmen were used wherever possible. In the lobby, the cypress wood millwork was sourced locally. The large cast-ceramic wall artwork, made by an unknown artist, was sourced at a local flea market in Texas. Starkly modern elements contrast with folksy local finds, including a pair of Pierre Chareau re-edition sconces placed next to a vintage framed needlepoint work by an unknown artist. XK
