This morning I joined an urgent remote conference hosted by UNHCR. UNCHR is committed to helping people in times of crisis with immediate support. Over the weekend, in addition to UNHCR’s existing response, UNHCR was part of a convoy taking aid from Turkiye into northwest Syria. Around 2,000 core relief item kits loaded onto 12 trucks were made available to their partners, who are distributing to earthquake affected people. This convoy adds aid to the stocks UNHCR already had in the northwest which have been distributed over the course of the past week. The agency is also pleased to confirm that the first of several UNHCR airlifts went from Dubai to Istanbul, carrying thousands of high-thermal blankets and hundreds of tents to support existing supplies and ongoing emergency response efforts in Turkiye.
