To win it twice is something that I’m still wrapping my head around. I have so many thoughts and feelings about this tournament that I’m going to break it down into a few points. 1. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the podium on the international circuit, and even longer since I’ve been on top of it. Between Covid and a dismal last season, this was my best fencing in over 3 years. When you get hit with adversity, when you aren’t doing as well as you know you are capable of, the only thing you can do is believe in yourself and keep grinding behind the scenes. 2. This was @smassi first international event coming back from an ACL tear and it was a pleasure to watch her fence. Although I know she didn’t do as well as she would’ve liked to, I was extremely proud to watch her fence all day and I think she fenced well. I’m excited to see her truly back on the circuit. 3. This was my first year competing at the CIP since my παππούς (grandfather) passed away. Frixos has always been a staple at this competition, coming every year for longer than I can remember. Every fencer and staff member knew who he was because of his presence at the CIP. He wasn’t here in person with me this year, but he was here in spirit. 4. This was @jenjen.lu first CIP, I guess she chose the right year to come! Thank you for your love and support over these last four years. Your belief in me gave me belief in myself through my lows of the last couple years. Thank you to all my family, friends, teammates, and fans.
