🖤Please Pray for Zoë

🏥With a sad heart we inform you that Zoë was admitted to the emergency care at the vet hospital last Sunday. We found her laying on the floor in the attic in a strange position. She looked very sick and could not stand on her feet. We took her to the emergency room at the vet and she has been there ever since.

🩸She has severe anaemia, for which she has now received two blood transfusions. She has a feeding tube for nutrients and an IV for fluids. The cause of the anaemia is still unknown. She had a plethora of tests, ultrasounds and biopsies. So far it does not look like she has cancer. It seems immune system related. The doctors think it is either an auto immune disorder or an infection. She had an inconclusive result on a FELV rapid test twice. They did a thorough blood-test for it but the results won’t be in until Friday. In the meantime they keep searching because they feel FELV is unlikely and if it comes back negative they are back to square one. We are also looking into the possibility of FIP.

💉Zoë has to stay in the hospital until her anaemia is stable and she can eat and drink on her own. We miss her very much and hope she comes home soon, but we are glad she is receiving the best possible care. She is currently safest in the hospital. In the meantime we can watch her 24/7 on a webcam. We post daily updates in our stories and we saved them in a highlight called ‘Zoë Medical’.
