Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architecture Museum’s "THE SENTO :The history and the culture of the bathhouses in Tokyo" Sento, or public baths, gained popularity in the Edo period as a place for people to relax. Kodakara-yu, a public bathhouse built in Senju Motomachi in Adachi Ward in 1929, was relocated to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum after it closed in 1988. This exhibition takes a look at the history of public baths in Tokyo and introduces the role that they have played in society. Schedule: June 26 - September 12, 2021, 9:30-17:30, closed on Mondays.
