As famous as this attraction of Gifu Prefecture is, I am ashamed to say that I have actually never been there before. This countryside fairyland is a World Heritage site famous with its gassho-zukuri style preserved the most authentic ways. People still live their traditional ways of life in the far-removed hamlet. The only way to access Shirakawago is to hop on a bus (covered by the Tourist Pass!) but I’m sure it would be way worth it! Anyone has been there?
