If you grew up in America like I did, you’ve most likely taken yearbook photos every new school year. This was a big part of my childhood and the origin of my inspiration. I have never claimed nor took credit for this style of photography or concept that’s been around since the first one was made in 1806. It’s not “new” or “innovative,” which I am fully aware of. Instead of posting on social media and saying things are “wack” or that I have “no creativity,” this could’ve been handled in a more professional and a graceful way. But unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. If you guys know me or have followed my career, you know I’m all about supporting small designers and young talents, especially those in our Asian communities. This project was a special one because it was inspired by my childhood in American public schools and a way to celebrate the vivacious personalities and styles of our muses. While I understand the need to shed light on those who take ideas from small businesses, it’s not okay to do so without doing your research. Hurling accusations without evidence to back up your claim is unfair and harmful to one’s business and mental health.
