From the South Side of Chicago, my dad has always gone the extra mile for everyone. He drove me to every swim meet, cheered me in every endeavor, taught me I could do it all, and he encouraged the toughest education efforts- he always wanted me to be better. He taught me that history repeats itself, to live by facts, and to bring others with you. I’m so humbled by his achievements: Number 1 in his law school at University of Illinois, associate and Arthur Anderson, and Gardner Carton and started his own firm in my mother’s home town of Rockford, Illinois. He did this to ensure my mother’s siblings had a father figure after my mother’s father passed. And he raised three children- two went to Ivy League colleges and two are lawyers. My father was self taught and learned everything from a book. He’s never let me be intimidated by anything and told me if I didn’t understand it- I could read about it.
