The theory is that using rhythm, even that of walking can help to process trauma and relieve stress. Reminds me of my relationship with both movement and music. Sometime in my early 20’s I started to use instruments as a form of therapy because I noticed that if I occupied my body and brain at the same time, it acted as a really good calming technique during moments of extreme stress. It worked when nothing else would. I picked up a guitar, and regardless of how poorly I played, I kept playing and playing because it calmed me. I started writing and merging melodies with poetry as a way to exercise the muscles in my mind long enough for my body to relax when I felt anxiety. Later on I discovered Acro and have since used that as my meditation. I love @drruscio ‘s approach to that same mind/body movement theory and highly recommend listening to his podcast for more on this technique as well as other areas of healing in the integrative space. Please share your thoughts below on alternative techniques that have worked for you too! I love learning from you guys and enjoy our open convos on whole body health and wellness. Ps one trick I’ve learned over the years is this: the best path to healing is usually the one that’s free. More on that later...」2月13日 2時05分 - nikkireed
