You see, that’s me. Standing there in an oversized jacket with pockets filled with so many dreams, and eyes staring beyond the camera at all those mountains I’ve seen in my dreams.

I watch eagles fly above Himalayan peaks, watching them bring forth thunderstorms carrying mystical secrets that were left behind on those slopes by sages who lived long ago, before they all turned into rivers and flowed away towards the ocean.

And then as a kid, one morning while staring outside the window of my school bus, beyond the winter mist floating above sprawling mustard fields of terai, I saw my first Himalayan peak. I kept staring at it for a while, and then year after year I stared at that peak on all those winter mornings, before one day I learned that the peak was called Trishul.

Then one afternoon, I met Trishul, I ran through the jungle as the trees would hear me laugh and the birds thought I had gone mad, and maybe I did, before I reached there to stand on that rock in front of Trishul, and I wanted to scream that hey, do you recognise me? I’m that same kid who used to stare at you with eyes filled with dreams?

But I know the mountains know me, they recognise me from the same dreams I now carry in my pockets, making boats out of them and floating them in those rivers, where one day they’ll reach the ocean and when they do, I’m sure I’ll be standing there, with the visions of Himalayas within me, and the winds of freedom by my side.

And trust me Abhinav, on that day, I’ll fly.
