We must know these stories and face our country’s history in order to change the future for the better. #repost from the incredible team at @newgeorgiaproject: ⠀

“On February 1st, 1960 in Greensboro, NC, four A&T State University students, Ezell Blair, Jr. (Jibreel Khazan), Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil and David Richmond walked downtown and “sat-in” at the whites–only lunch counter at the F.W. Woolworth’s - a segregated business at the time. When they were inevitably refused service, they sat in place until the store closed. Their actions that day lead to months-long protests, primarily in the Woolworth store, ultimately resulting in the desegregation of the Woolworth's lunch counter in July of 1960.⠀

Don’t tell us that the young aren’t powerful.” #BlackHistoryMonth
