Last year, I designed and created a dress-like costume, which the largest diameter is approx. 20 meters, for a singer at a Japanese popular music TV program called “Kohaku”, annually broadcasted by #NHK on New Year’s Eve. The dress was moving on the stage as if dancing! It was made out of 30,000 pieces of small fabric, which was cut into a square shape, and every single part of it was sewn/attached by hand. Most of the textile I used for the dress was redundant cloth that would be discarded. Through my creation, I try to consider the issue of sustainability in the Japanese entertainment industry and will keep seeking to create something universal that can be inherited...!!@篠原ともえ
